LSW
Hi! My name is Sheilah Myers and I am a licensed social worker (LSW). I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work (BSW and MSW) from Missouri State University. During my time at Missouri State I was actively involved in an honor’s fraternity, Phi Sigma Pi.
My undergraduate practicum gave me experience working with young children in a group play therapy setting who had experienced trauma and/or had attachment disorders. My graduate practicum gave me experience working with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum through individual therapy, group therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy. Then, I worked in an early childhood school setting working with young children who had a variety of disabilities in a special education classroom.
Because of my experience, I am especially interested in working with neurodiverse children, adolescents, and young adults as well as those who have experienced trauma.
I use a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy techniques. In therapy we will highlight the client’s unique strengths that help to build independence, utilize coping skills, and improve trauma-response.
In my free time, I enjoy crafting, reading, traveling, and spending time with my loved ones. I also love to reset by going on long walks outside with my dog!
I am looking forward to meeting you and supporting you reach your goals!
