Creating a safe and inclusive environment to induce positive change in an individual’s life is of utmost importance to Gavin’s therapeutic strategy. Being part of the hearing impaired and LGBTQIA+ communities has equipped Gavin with a distinct capacity to recognize and celebrate each client’s unique differences.
Gavin obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Auburn University and a Master’s in Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a clinical mental health concentration and continually strives to gain the latest knowledge necessary to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored for everyone. Gavin believes that every person is strong, confident, and extraordinary. Gavin’s experiences have allowed him to explore the intersectionality of individuals and how that shaped their resilience to battle implicit discrimination and disparities in their reality.
Gavin utilizes an integrative counseling approach that is adapted to each individual that ranges from aspects of DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy). With a strong belief that not “one size fits all,” Gavin’s ability to adapt is one of his greatest strengths as a counselor.
With a personal connection on how Depression impacts their life, Gavin is particularly interested in empowering clients to talk back to their negative thoughts and establish a strong positive self-regard. Gavin is passionate about helping clients take the reins of their own healing.
In his free time, Gavin loves to try different restaurants and coffee places and explore what Colorado has to offer. He loves to go on hikes with his dog Olive Tini and travel around the world.
